The NATO-led combat mission in Afghanistan will end in 2014. Nations have started the redeployment of their equipment. The British Army started the redeployment process in October 2012. Expensive and sensitive pieces of equipment, such as helicopters and vehicles, are sent by air to an air base in the United Arab Emirates and then shipped by sea to the military port of Marchwood in Southampton.
